I am excited about drones and how they can safely and efficiently help businesses. I am Todd Mowen, Founder & FAA Certified Drone Pilot of Sula Aerials. Welcome to the launch of the Sula Aerials website and my first blog post. I wanted to start by telling you a little about me and why I created Sula Aerials.
I became excited about drones over 3 years ago when I brought aerial cinematography (video) into my video production company of 16 years, Sula Studios. Once I started to fly drones, I couldn’t stop! Quickly, I saw the potential uses for drones outside the creative industry and wanted to learn more. So I went to a commercial drone conference hosted by DJI. I was thrilled when I saw the Autodesk booth talking about photogrammetry, which is creating 3D from 2D images in order to make measurements. (Look for a blog post on photogrammetry soon.)
With my degree in Computer Animation, I was instantly driven to learning how to use drones to create 3D models and provide data to take linear, area, and volume data and so much more. My father owned/operated a construction company for over 30 years, so I naturally thought of numerous uses for the construction industry. Since then I knew I wanted to start Sula Aerials because manned aerial imagery is time-intensive, expensive, and unsafe. Therefore we use the latest in drone technology with certified drone pilots to speed up processes, improve safety, provide a better product than before, and increase the bottom line for the clients we serve.
I look forward to educating, expanding on drones, and their user applications through this blog.
